There are many ways to start your personal journal. Here are the benefits of starting a journal online or a blog.

Starting an online journal can provide many benefits. There are two types of online diary forms: the personal internet diary and a blog.

Internet Diary

The diary that you keep online is similar to the traditional journal except that it can only be accessed on the web. There are several benefits for this kind of journal. They tend to be password protected so they tend to be safer than other journals. It’s much more difficult for people to catch a peek at your journal if it’s online and password protected.

The online journal usually has many different perks. It records the date for you and you can usually add links to websites you may have visited that day. It’s also easy to add photos, widgets, etc to personalize your web diary. Keeping a diary online is also a much quicker way to write. People usually type faster than they write, so writing an online journal can save time.

Online journals also usually give the option of whether or not you want to make your journal public or private. Having a private internet diary means that only you can see it—there is no need to worry who might be able to access it. Remember that the risk of someone looking at your journal increases if it is not password protected. As long as you need a password and take care to log out, there is nothing to fear.

Another benefit of keeping an internet diary is the ability to edit entries and print them out for later use. If you write a particularly exciting entry you can hit the print button to keep a hard copy. It might be a good idea to periodically save your journal to a hard drive or print it out .

Online Diary Blog

The difference between an online diary and a blog is that with a blog you expect to share your writing with others. A blog is just like a diary except others can read it. There are, of course, benefits of having a blog which a personal journal lacks.

A blog has readers. People you don’t know can access your blog and decide to read some of what you have written. This option is an excellent choice for people who don’t mind sharing their thoughts and want their work to be read. An online blog is very similar to a diary except one may not want to put too much personal information in a blog.
